The Community Indigenous Locomahuida's, this one located in Collipulli's city, place where there resides our only Quack Ms Sara Neculpan Panitru, a quack is a religious authority, adviser and protective of the people Mapuche, besides a great wisdom and curative power. It possesses an exact knowledge of the medicinal value of every grass, plant and of every substance to use the needed ones for the lawen (I) (remedy) in his medicine. It has also the power of the spirits and the dreams (peumas) that perform great importance, since on having been analyzed and interpreted to the awakening, many important decisions arise from it. Across these practices it cures the diseases of his people and even the diseases winkas (foreigner, white). The medicine Mapuche is gaining increasingly importance to level of the Chilean people.

   Ms. Sara, was born in Collipulli, it possesses 35 years of experience as Quack, from this date in it received this "gift", it devotes itself to realize ceremonies of nguillatún and machitún in Collipulli as also in his surroundings.

Machitún: It is a ceremony of sanación of the people Mapuche, carried out by a quack, in the machitún there are invoked the forbears who have left the earthly world, and now they control the art of diagnosing males and diseases. They watch the Machis and represent in his treatments.

   For the ceremony there is necessary a Rehue, (carved trunk), in the rite, the Quack places leaves of cinnamon-tree, the sacred tree Mapuche and then it ignites them. With the sounds of the cultrún, it enters to a condition of situation, where the quack communicates with his püllü or spirits, they clarify the reason of the disease of the patient and the steps to treat it, generally by means of rogations and specific infusions for every disease.

Nguillatún: It is a ceremony of rogativa, for the nguillatún, there is needed a place specially arranged for this end. In his center one installs the Rehue and around it the participants. There lasts a minimum of two days and a maximum of four.

   The rogativa is for diverse motives: the climate, the crops, to avoid the diseases or to achieve the food abundance.

   During the ceremony there are realized dances accompanied of diverse prayers. In addition an animal sacrifices itself, generally a lamb, for the ngepin that is the director of the rite. Then the blood of the animal asperja or one distributes the guests, offering the ritual drink to the participants so called muday (fermented maize). The body of the sacrificed animal can be completely burned in a burner to be emaciated.
